Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about our services, process, pricing, and what it's like to work with us.

General

What type of clients do you typically work with?

We work with businesses of all sizes, from sole traders and small businesses through to larger organisations. Our clients come from a range of industries including professional services, trades, retail, not-for-profit, and creative sectors. We have services tailored to businesses of every size, particularly small and medium.

Where is Meteoric Digital based?

We're based in Sydney, Australia, and work with clients locally and internationally.

How much does a website cost?

It depends entirely on the project. A single-page site and a full e-commerce build are very different undertakings. Rather than throwing out a number that might not reflect what you actually need, we prefer to have a brief conversation first to understand your goals, then provide a detailed proposal with a fixed price. Some of our services have set pricing you can browse directly, including monthly website plans and management packages.

How long does a project take?

It depends on scope and complexity. A straightforward website typically takes 4 to 6 weeks. Larger or more involved builds can take anywhere between 8 to 12 weeks and in some cases longer. We'll give you a realistic timeline in the proposal upfront.

Do you work with clients internationally?

Yes, we're based in Sydney but work with clients across Australia and internationally. We've delivered projects for businesses in New Zealand, the UK, Germany, South Africa, Ethiopia, and the US. Most of our communication happens via email and scheduled calls, so location isn't a barrier.

Do you require upfront payment?

Payment structure depends on the project and the client. The number and timing of payments varies depending on the scope and structure of the project. We'll outline the full payment schedule in the proposal before any work begins.

Where can I find your pricing?

Some of our services have set prices listed directly on their pages, like our monthly website plans and management packages. For custom projects, we provide a tailored quote after an initial discovery call. The best place to start is our services page, or you can get in touch directly.

How do we collaborate if we don't live in the same city?

We work with clients remotely all the time. Most communication happens via email, which keeps a written record of everything and reduces the chance of things getting lost. We'll have a few scheduled calls throughout the project when it's useful, and share regular updates as we go so you're always in the loop.

Do you collaborate on projects?

Yes. We're happy to collaborate with your existing team, other agencies, or freelancers. We can integrate into your workflow however works best, whether that's joining your tools and meetings or simply delivering work on an agreed schedule.

Do you take on ad hoc or one-off work?

Yes. We take on ad hoc and one-off projects as well as ongoing retainers. Whether it's a single page, a quick fix, or something more substantial, get in touch and we'll let you know if it's a good fit.

Why is your approach better than Wix, Squarespace, Webflow and similar hosted platforms?

Website builders are fine for getting something online quickly, but they come with limitations. You're restricted to their templates, their features, and their platform. If you outgrow them or want to leave, it's not straightforward. We build custom websites around your business, not the other way around. Everything is tailored to your needs and can grow and change as your business does.

I have a question that's not answered here. How can I contact you?

All the information you need to get in touch is on our contact page. We typically respond within one to two business days.

What do you need from me to get started?

Not much to begin with. We'll start with a conversation about your goals and what you're looking for. From there, we'll let you know what we need from you, whether that's existing branding, content, reference material, or access to current accounts. Every project is different, so we'll provide a clear list before we get started.

Monthly Website Plans

What's included in a monthly plan?

Design, development, hosting, SSL, ongoing maintenance, and monthly content updates. Everything you need for a professional website in one payment. You can see the full details on our monthly website plans page.

Can I cancel anytime?

There's a 12-month minimum commitment. If you need to cancel during that period, the remaining balance of the commitment would need to be paid out. After the first 12 months, you can cancel at any time with no further obligation. We'll keep the site live until the end of your current billing period. If you'd like to take the website with you, a buyout option is available.

Can I use my own hosting?

No. Hosting is included as part of the monthly plan, which keeps things simple and predictable. Everything from hosting through to maintenance is managed under one roof. You're free to use your own domain registrar and email hosting. We'll ask that DNS is managed through Cloudflare, which we can help set up. If you'd prefer to arrange your own hosting entirely, a traditional project might be a better fit.

What happens if I cancel?

After the initial 12-month commitment, we'll keep your site live until the end of your current billing period, then take it offline. If you'd like to keep the website, a buyout option is available so you can take the files with you. If you cancel during the first 12 months, the remaining balance of the commitment would need to be paid out.

Are smaller updates and changes included?

Yes. Content changes like updating text, swapping images, or changing contact details are all included. Structural changes like adding new pages are available at a flat rate of $100 per page.

Is this different from a traditional project?

Yes. With a traditional project, you pay an upfront fee and own the website from the start. Monthly plans spread the cost over time with $0 down, which means we're carrying the upfront risk of building your site. That's part of what keeps the plans affordable, but it's also why the website code remains our property while you're on the plan. You always own your content, images, and branding. If you'd like to own the website files later, a buyout option is available after your initial commitment.

Ownership & Files

Who owns the rights to my website after completion?

It depends on how the project is set up. For traditional projects, you own the website and all deliverables once the project is complete and paid in full. For monthly website plans, the website code remains our property while you're on the plan, which is what keeps the monthly cost affordable. In all cases, you always own your content, images, and branding. If you'd like to own the website files from a monthly plan, a buyout option is available after your initial commitment.

Will I get the final code or design files?

For traditional projects, yes. You'll receive the final code and all relevant deliverables once the project is complete and paid in full. For monthly website plans, the website code remains our property while you're on the plan. A buyout option is available if you'd like to own the files later.

Process

What's your process?

We start with an introductory call to get to know each other and discuss your goals. If it's a good fit, we move into discovery to understand the full scope, then provide a detailed proposal with costs and timeline. From there it's design, development, testing, and launch. You can read the full breakdown on our process page.

How much of my time will this take?

We try to keep the time commitment on your end as lean as possible. Most of the back and forth happens at key stages like the initial call, discovery, design review, and handover. Outside of those touchpoints, we'll update you as we go and only pull you in when we need your input or approval.

Who will be working on my project?

As a studio, your project is managed end to end by me, with support from a network of trusted professionals I've worked with for years. Different parts of the build may involve specialists in design, development, or other areas depending on what's needed. You'll always have a single point of contact and your project won't get passed around.

What constitutes a round of revisions?

A round of revisions is a single batch of feedback applied to the current stage of work. Rather than sending changes one at a time, we ask that you compile your feedback into one consolidated list so we can address everything together. This keeps things efficient and avoids going back and forth unnecessarily. The number of revision rounds included varies by project and is outlined in the proposal.

What if I need more work after the project is complete?

We're here for that. Whether it's adding new features, making changes, or ongoing maintenance, we can continue working together after launch. We offer ongoing support plans for regular maintenance, and can also take on ad hoc work as needed.

What do we receive at the end of the project?

For traditional projects, you'll receive the final code and all relevant deliverables along with documentation covering how your website works, how to manage it, and key technical details like hosting and DNS. We'll also walk you through everything in a handover session. For monthly website plans, ongoing support and maintenance are included as part of your plan.

Services

What services do you offer?

We offer a range of web design and development services including UX and UI design, web development, website management and support, monthly website plans, website audits and reviews, team augmentation, Shopify development, and WordPress development. You can explore all of these in more detail on our services page.

Do you offer hosting and maintenance?

Yes. We offer ongoing website management and support plans covering updates, security monitoring, performance, and regular maintenance. You can read more on our management and support page.

Can you work with our existing website platform?

It depends on the platform and what's needed. We have experience with a range of setups and can usually work with or migrate from most platforms. Get in touch and we'll let you know upfront if it's something we can help with.

Can you take over an existing project?

We can, though it depends on the project. We'd want to review what's already in place first to make sure we can support it effectively and let you know upfront if there are any concerns.

Do you create custom solutions or use templates?

Both. We can design and build something completely custom, or work with an existing theme if that's a better fit for your project and budget. Not every project needs a custom build, and we'll recommend the right approach based on what you actually need.

Can you create a logo without a full visual identity?

We can, though a logo works best when it's part of a broader visual direction. If you already have a clear sense of your branding, we can design a logo that fits. If not, we can help establish a visual direction first.

Can you work with our existing designs?

Absolutely. If you have designs from your own team or another agency, we can handle the development and bring those designs to life as a fully functional website. We're happy to review your designs first to make sure everything is feasible and flag any potential issues early on.

Support

What kind of support do you offer after launch?

We offer ongoing website management and support through our management plans. These cover things like updates, security monitoring, performance, and regular maintenance. If you need something more flexible, we also take on ad hoc work. For full details, visit our management and support page.

What happens if my website goes down?

We monitor sites under our management plans for uptime and are alerted automatically if something goes offline. We'll investigate as quickly as we can. If you notice something before we do, you're welcome to contact us directly.

How quickly can you turn around support requests?

We typically respond to support requests within one to two business days. For urgent issues, we'll do our best to respond sooner. Response times can vary depending on the nature of the request and current workload.

Websites

Can I write my own website copy?

Yes. You're welcome to write your own copy, and many clients do. Some choose to bring in their own copywriter or content creator, which works well too. If you'd prefer some guidance, we can help with structure and tone to make sure it works well for your audience and reads well on the page.

Will I be able to edit the website myself later?

That depends on how your project is built. Some of our services include a CMS so you can manage your own content, while others don't. If being able to edit things yourself is important to you, let us know early on and we'll factor that into the approach.

Do I need to know how to code to edit my website?

No. If your project includes a CMS, you'll be able to update content through a straightforward interface without touching any code. If your project doesn't include a CMS, updates can be handled through one of our support or management plans, or arranged on an ad hoc basis.

Which CMS do you use?

It depends on the project. For websites that need a full content management system, we typically use WordPress. For our monthly website plans, a blog-only CMS is available as an optional add-on. We'll recommend the right setup based on what you actually need.

Will my website work on mobile devices?

Yes. Everything we build is responsive, meaning it's designed to work well on phones, tablets, and desktops. We test across screen sizes throughout the build process.

Which browsers do you support?

We build to modern web standards and support current and recent versions of Chrome, Safari, Firefox, and Edge. We target baseline, widely available features rather than supporting outdated browsers. If you have specific requirements, let us know and we'll factor that in.

Can you make minor modifications to my existing website?

We can, depending on what's needed. Small changes like updating text, swapping images, or adjusting layouts are generally straightforward. For anything more involved, we'd review the existing setup first to make sure we can deliver what you need. Get in touch with the details and we'll let you know.

Can you work with our existing branding?

Yes. We can design within your existing branding guidelines to keep everything consistent, or help establish a visual direction if you don't have formal guidelines in place.
