Our Process

Our design & development process

Every project follows a clear process. Here's how we work with you from start to finish.

Our process

How we take your project from first conversation to a live website.

We like to start all new projects at Meteoric Digital with a brief introductory Zoom meeting. This is an opportunity for us to get to know each other, discuss your goals, and determine if we're going to be a good fit. After our initial call, we'll be able to give you a rough ballpark of the project's potential cost and timelines. You can then decide if you'd like to continue the process with us, no strings attached.

Getting started

Understanding your goals and defining the work ahead.

A more accurate price and timeline comes together after discovery, once we understand the full scope of your project. This is where we figure out what we're working with and what it'll take to deliver it.

Discovery

Our first step is to schedule a project discovery call. During this call, we'll discuss the main specifics and details about your project. These will be things like learning who your target customer is, what functions you need, point of contact, content plan, hosting etc… This will help us get a clear understanding of your needs and goals.

If you already have a website and are looking to refresh your site, we will also work through any existing website analytics you may have, assess the existing accessibility of your current site, and work through any design style guides you have so that we can start to build an accurate scope of work.

Once, we've completed the discovery work, you will be given a report, breaking down some of our findings, which is yours to keep, regardless of whether you decide to continue with us beyond the proposal stage.

Proposal

Based on the discovery work, we'll provide you with a detailed proposal that outlines all the deliverables and scope of work, along with a total price, payment structure and a more accurate estimated timeline for each stage of the process.

Once you've approved the proposal, we'll discuss the roles and responsibilities we'll both have to get the project moving forward. We'll also need to start gathering all of the assets from you that we will need as we move into the design phase of the project. These could be things such as written content, information architecture, images, fonts and logos.

The build phase

Design, development, testing, launch. What happens during the build.

What happens next depends on your project. Most projects include some or all of these stages, depending on scope.

Design

We work methodically and iteratively through the design phase, giving you regular updates and opportunities to review our work as we go. Generally, this stage involves the initial wireframes outlining how the site will be structured as well as the development of the overall visual design of the site.

Development

In the Development phase, we get down to the nitty-gritty of coding and building your new website. This is the part where the designs become something you can actually use. The focus here is on creating a seamless, efficient site that functions flawlessly, reflecting the initial vision and designs.

Testing & quality assurance

Once major development work has been completed and approved, we'll put your project through our testing and quality assurance procedures. This is where we will fix bugs that occur and work on optimising the site's performance.

Deployment

Once we've finished the Testing & Quality Assurance stage, your website is ready to go live on your domain. After it's published, we'll put it through a second set of tests for quality assurance to ensure that the site works as well on its final hosting server as it did during the development process.

Documentation

We begin preparing your website's documentation during this stage. This document outlines the most important details of your new website, including how it works, how to use it, and how to manage it day-to-day. It also covers technical details like hosting provider, domain registrar, DNS records, how to edit content, and plugin information.

Handover & training

When the site is live and documentation has been completed, it's time to hand the site over to you. We will supply you with your website's Documentation, as well as share all of the required login credentials.

On all website projects, we will usually have one last call where we will run you through the basics of your brand new site. If you need further training, we can also offer more in depth sessions where we can go into more detail on how to use your new site.

Aftercare & support

We believe that having a successful website means having a website that's well-maintained. That's why we offer website management services to take care of all the maintenance for you. Alternatively, if you prefer to handle website care yourself, we can provide you with detailed instructions to ensure your website stays in top shape.

Communication

How we keep you informed and involved throughout your project.

Effective communication is key to a successful project. We understand that clear communication is important to you, as it is to us.

We'll have a few Zoom meetings throughout your project, but most of our communication will be conducted through email. This allows us to maintain a written record of our discussions, reducing the potential for miscommunication.

You can expect regular communication from us throughout the project as we have questions or need to review our work.

If you need to schedule a phone or Zoom meeting at any point during the project, we're happy to arrange it in advance. We believe that clear communication is key to a successful project, so we're always available to answer your questions and address any concerns you may have.
